2021 Sustainability Report

Updated: May 30, 2022

Sustainability is at the main focus of everything we do at Tailor Sallee and we love that we are making an impact through the fashion industry! Our mission is to bring sustainable fashion to everyone so we created this report to be transparent about what we’re doing and why.

Water

71,300 gallons of water saved.

It takes over 715 gallons of water total to make just one new t-shirt, which is enough water for one person to drink for 900 days. Tailor Sallee up-cycles clothing so no new materials are needed!

Recycling We recycle 100% of our textile scraps. Tailor Sallee is zero waste.

E-commerce On average, e-commerce uses about 30% less energy than traditional brick and mortar retail stores.

Local Manufacturing 100% of our cutting, sewing and producing is done in Tampa Bay.

Supplies

A business uses a ton of stuff. We prioritize products with recycled-content, and opt for solutions that are recyclable or biodegradable. We also use green cleaning products whenever possible. All of our fashions are washed in detergent free from dyes and chemicals.

Packaging

Our 100% compostable bags are made of bio-based materials.

Collaborations We also give back through sustainability-focused collaborations and initiatives like our launches with Wild Roots Plant Shop, Pet Pal Animal Shelter and Bayshore Bees that furthered our mission to bring sustainable lifestyle choices to everyone.

In 2021, we partnered with Mask Project Tampa Bay an initiative to organize local designers and manufacturers to make millions of non-medical masks for brave people doing essential work during COVID-19, ensuring medical grade masks can be available to healthcare workers.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The fashion industry has a major impact on the global economy and the environment. That’s why we aligned our sustainability framework with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to make sure we’re tackling the most important issues like climate change and economic inequality.

Our Calculations

That’s like removing 1 car off the road for 6 months, reusing 1,697 bath tubs full of water, and preventing 4 garbage cans of waste.

Planet

We want to keep our planet safe for future generations, so we track and share the environmental impact of everything we do and innovate new ways to go easier on the Earth.

Thanks for reading! See how we’ve improved in 2022!
